Kids' DIY Halloween Costumes Made With Items They Can Wear All Year
Halloween comes but once a year, and it's always been one of our favorite holidays. With multiple kids, though, who invariably want to dress up as something new every time, costumes can quickly become costly. Making your own outfits is an obvious way to save, but not everyone is an expert seamstress or craft queen. And for many of us with kids, there simply aren't enough hours in the day for elaborate DIY costumes.
Before you throw up your hands and head down to the Halloween store, there's another solution to consider. By thinking outside the box, we came up with three cost-effective costumes that make use of wardrobe basics you probably already have in your closet. Simple supplies like felt and a couple of store-bought accessories transform leggings and hoodies into spook-tactular costumes in a snap. Best of all, there's no sewing required, and these outfits quickly convert back to everyday clothes when the Halloween clock strikes midnight. Can we get a BOO-yah!? 👻
Check out the adorable Halloween costumes Annalisa, our very own founder, put together for her little ones this year, all in under an hour. And yes, that's one hour to complete all three!!!
Mr. Incredible (a.k.a. Abe)
With little more than craft felt, a bikini bottom, and a simple mask, this long-sleeve tee and leggings become a suit fit for a superhero
. Tip: A glue stick works perfectly well to assemble the Incredibles emblem.
Pink Unicorn (a.k.a. Abigail)
A cozy pink hoody and leggings get a touch of unicorn magic.
Tip: We promised there would be no sewing... The felt mane and tail easily attach with safety pins.
Emoji (a.k.a. Adelaine)
It doesn't get easier than this, friends. Affix black felt cut outs to a yellow shirt with safety pins, and this Emoji costume is ready to trick-or-treat.
Tip: Be sure to complete costumes with warm, non-slip footwear on Halloween night!
